GOERSCHEN was a businessman and Abwehr agent in The Netherlands in 1938. He was said to be a Canaris appointee and, although responsible for the collection of intelligence, including some on British military matters pre-war, he was essentially anti-Nazi. He was arrested by the Gestapo in 1944, according to one version on grounds of helping Dutch people and Jews, and was imprisoned in Berlin. It is possible he was also involved in the July 1944 plot against Hitler.
