Cartoon purporting to show Japanese and French armies fighting against the 'Black Flags'. Sale of the cartoon on the streets of Hong Kong had provoked a complaint from the Japanese Consul in Hong Kong. It is unclear whether Tonkin refers to the city (now Hanoi) or the region of that name.
