Oval, quarter-length portrait of Edward Seymour, Duke of Somerset, with (underneath on the same plate), a picture of the knighting of King Edward VI at his coronation. Original painted by [Hans] Holbein [the Younger], this engraving by J Houbraken, [?Amsterdam]; published by J and P Knapton, London, 1738. Inscribed: 'In the collection of the Rt. Hon. the Earl of Hertford'. Mounted on the same backing sheet: (i) coats of arms of Renold de Mohum, Lord of Dunster and Earl of Somerset; John Beaufort, Duke of Somerset; Henry Fitzroy, Duke of Somerset; Edward Semer, Duke of Somerset; Ralph Nevile; John Duke of Somerset. (ii) Sketch in brown ink of Somerset House from the River Thames, inscribed 'From a drawing by Hollar in the Pepysian Library the same size P.128'. ORDER THIS DOCUMENT AS WORK 30/269 .
